Our courses are geared toward animal shelter staff, volunteers, ACO’s, veterinarians, vet techs, members of dog rescue groups and others who wish to learn more about canine behavior so they are better able to care for and work with the dogs in their care.
Our interns have the opportunity to study normal and abnormal canine behaviors in an actual shelter setting. We will study various behaviors that tend to reoccur in sheltered settings, and discuss which of these behavior are “rehab-able” and which aren’t. Interns will also learn simple, behavior-based training techniques and daily handling skills that will allow them help the dogs in their care either remain or become healthy and stable, and therefore more adoptable.
Internships are currently held in the spring and fall. Please contact PARTNERS! for more information on Internship Opportunities.
